Retreats

Retreats are an important part of my treatment model. It’s a way to get in-person connection, cathartic release, and deep insight into your psychological world. My retreats pull from the full breath of my practice and you’ll be attending with other members who are walking the same path as you. I’m structuring my retreats off of the Hero’s Journey, by attending each one you’ll take a step through this mythological process and emerge a Hero on the other side!

Crossing the threshold

I’m pleased to announce our first ever Wilderness Men’s Retreat “Crossing the Threshold” The retreat will be on June 2nd-5th in the wilderness outside of Denver, Colorado. Over the weekend we’ll be surviving, exploring, and growing together. I’ll be running it with my good friend and colleague, Eric Dooley-Feldman. Eric is currently getting his PhD in clinical psychology and has been a wilderness guide and therapist for over a decade. He brings his own flavor to the retreat space, he pulls from the Hero’s Journey work from Joseph Campbell and male initiation experiences popularized by Robert Bly.

You will walk away from this weekend with a deeper level of connection, a stronger sense of your masculine self, and healthy male empowerment. I see these retreats as “hunts.” It’s a way for Men to bond by overcoming challenges and learning to rely on each other. Over the weekend each of you will be hunting for yourselves, your inner Wild Man, and a sense of brotherhood. This retreat is the first in a planned series that will take the group through the phases of the Hero’s Journey.

The retreat will be entirely self-contained in order to preserve the therapeutic space we are creating. Just like the last retreat, you’ll be asked to leave your cell phones at the trailhead. We will be bringing a GPS unit and satellite communicator for emergencies.

We hope to challenge each of you by asking the questions:
Who are you without your points of reference?
Where does your Wild Man live?
What does it mean to truly trust another man?

The road of trials - TBD in the fall

Intensive process retreat with Rick Tivers LCSW, CGP

The next intensive process retreat will be November 11th-13th at the Peaceful Meadow Retreat Center in Boulder, Colorado. This retreat center offers lodging, meals, as well as outdoor space for a communal fire. Over the weekend we’ll be living, working, and growing together. My therapist, Rick Tivers, and I will guide each participant though corrective emotional experiences via active process work in a group setting. These will include some activities tailored for the group as well as a custom process built for each individual member based on the work we are currently doing in therapy. You will walk away from this weekend with a deeper level of connection, a stronger sense of your masculine self, and healthy male empowerment.
